The road to Allenheads from Allendale is open and the bus has got through so conditions must be ok. I don’t know about access from Weardale or Rookhope. We’ll open by 2.00pm and, assuming conditions ok, will run tows until 4.30/5.00pm.

There is a covering of snow, probably enough to ski on, but its still snowing and road conditions are very dodgy – buses not getting to Allenheads. Tomorrow is looking very promising – sunshine and cold so we want to keep snow until then. Current plan is to open today around 2.00pm, if access is ok. I’ll update later this morning, around 11.30, to confirm.

There’s a covering of snow at Allenheads, some left over from earlier in the week and some from today however it is largely very thin and soft so its not good enough to ski. The weather is staying chilly but not cold enough for conditions to improve so we will have to wait until we get more snow before we can open. Maybe in a week or so!

Disappointing as the snow is going and too much grass showing so we won’t be able to open today. The forecast is for continuing cold and some snow but temperatures generally just above freezing so its unlikely conditions will get good enough to open – but you never know!

There’s a cover of snow so its possible we will be able to open tomorrow. The overnight forecast is rather mixed with some snow, sleet and frost so there may be enough of a covering across the slope to make skiing possible. We will check in the morning and post another update. If we are able to open, it will probably be around 10.30 to 11.00.

Great day to today but forecast and conditions not so good tomorrow so unsure about opening. Will update in the morning.

There’s been a little more snow so, with a frozen base, conditions should be good tomorrow. We’ll aim to be open for 10.00am. As ever, please park carefully. The Hemmel café should be open from 10 – a pre-ski breakfast?

For once there is some consistency in the weather forecasts and it is looking likely that there will be snow tonight and tomorrow. There may not be a lot, maybe 6 to 10 cms, but the ground is frozen so that should be enough for a day or so of snowsport. It is possible there will be enough snow to open tomorrow but more likely on Saturday. and maybe Sunday. There’ll be a further update in the morning.

A Happy New Year to all and a definite prospect of some New Year snow. At the moment, there’s plenty of snow near the coast but none yet as far inland as Allenheads. The forecast is suggesting more snow next week, perhaps as early as Monday but more likely from midweek. Once the conditions are suitable, we’d expect to open and will post again as soon as we can.
