Snow Conditions and Weather

Latest: Updated Saturday 20 January 2018, 19.00

After a fall of about 5 – 10 cms of fresh snow last night on a good firm base, we’ve just had one of the best days for a while. A dull morning followed by a cold & sunny afternoon made for brilliant skiing & boarding with a good turn out having a great time. Tows were still running at 5.00pm, testing out the floodlit skiing.

Tomorrow will be different but will start off cold and dry with excellent snow conditions. Some snow is forecast for the afternoon and it will eventually turn to rain but the snow cover is so good, we will probably get in a full day’s skiing. We’re hoping to run the tows from about 10.00am, until 4.30ish, assuming people want to stay & the weather is OK.

If you go to Allenheads, a few points to note:

  • It will probably be busy, so please park carefully & make maximum use of space without blocking the drive to the Hall or access to any other houses. The yard in the village, across the road from the pub, is also available for parking.
  • Please bring your membership cards/proof of membership with you. If you joined recently & haven’t received your card yet, a paper or phone copy of the email confirming payment will be fine.
  • The Hemmel cafe will be open from 10.00 until 4.00pm. Breakfast is served until 11.30 and is not a bad way to start the day before getting the boots on. There will be the normal Sunday lunches but lighter bites, such as soup or chips will also be available.

The toilets in the village will be closed again this winter, however we’ve confirmed that the Hemmel Cafe is happy for you to use their toilet – even without having to buy anything.

In the meantime, see the Hemmel cafe website for their opening hours.
